  • My CAM called and took care of this just a few minutes ago. Thanks!
  • A follow-up. I heard from my CAM about this and asked: Who is supposed to reach out to these folks to point out the absolutely gaping security holes and upsell new gear: me, a local partner, or SonicWall? His response: It would have to be a local partner if the customer is not located in your area. So now the onus is on…
  • @Ajishlal - I stopped implementing SonicWall APs for all client sites early last year and plan to replace all active devices when licenses expire. I guess that business decision let me avoid this pain.
  • Mid-September update: Michelle seems convinced those MSPs and System Admins who use other vendors' firewalls and security products will be enticed to use SonicWall - or at least give it a shot - if they can come on board with the equivalent (or better) partner-level metal standing. I'm not sure if someone who uses Fortinet…
  • As I have learned over time from my various SonicWall Channel Account Managers, any Request for Enhancement (RFE) has to go through the CAMs. The first thing they are required to do is to submit your request along with a complete description of the "opportunity created." In other words: will there be increased spending for…
  • September 12, 2023, TZ270W running SonicOS 7.0.1-5119 decides to arbitrarily reboot at 10:15 am. Posting here because I don't expect any solution and need to write out my frustration. Here's my RFE: when the device borks, take immediate action to (somehow) save the running state of the device. Because right now, SW CSRs…
  • @cyber_monkey - just to be clear. You are running a Gen 6.5 device. To run a Gen 7 device you need to get a new device. There is no firmware upgrade path on the old hardware. Currently, and through the end of the year (or while supplies last), SonicWall is offering a 3 & Free promotion for Gen 7 devices that now permits…
  • @cyber_monkey 6.5.4.11-97n was released a year ago (August 2022). There have been several interim maintenance releases since then. 6.5.4.12-101n was issued in April 2023. And the reason you haven't upgraded is...
  • @BWC - Michael, thanks for this post. I got an early morning "device down" alert from an Aruba cloud-based switch at a client site. A careful look of the Gen 7 log showed X0 and X4 going down - followed by those cryptic NSM messages. A few minutes later they came back - along with some more cryptic NSM messages. Going to…
  • Take a look in here: https://www.sonicwall.com/techdocs/pdf/sonicosx-7-command-line-interface-reference-guide.pdf Around page 1300...
  • I am convinced this is another "problem in the making" because of the vendor's choice of vernacular. Most people think of setting and resetting MFA, and that is what they will search for. However, they will never find the aforementioned KB article because it does not use those keywords. Some technicians think of bind and…
  • @Norsmith - @Ajishlal is correct. The NSM Advanced subscription provides analytics for up to 30 days of data. Of course, you might want to factor in the approximately US $450 MSRP for a one year subscription for your TZ270.
  • @Zyxian no one is ever going to fix this. There isn't sufficient client/partner engagement to warrant the expense of re-coding this abomination. Apparently they thought it would be useful; however, no one properly reviewed it for feedback during design/development.
  • When you go to Network then Interfaces, what Zone have your established for those X3 to X7 ports? If none of them are LAN, then your DHCP server will not recognize them. Similarly, you could set them to NativeBridge mode and it will automatically assign them to X0.
  • I don't use this product, but I'm familiar with SentinelOne installations from my MSSP. I don't believe the exe created by Capture Client supports parameters. According to the Getting Started Guide (https://www.sonicwall.com/techdocs/pdf/capture_client-getting_started.pdf) the msi requires the TenantID. What else would you…
