• it did boot into safe mode once, and I chose reset to factory. After rebooting, the password still wasn't accepted

• I have tried Edge and IE11 and removed all browser cahed passwords and contents. Same result. And yes, the X) interface address has been reset to 192.168.168.168. This remains a mystery
