Netextender keeps crashing with Windows Remote Access Service Error

We have one user who's working from home and keeps encountering this same error.

Each time he has to completely uninstall Netextender and reinstall before he can connect to SSL VPN again.

Running Windows 10 Pro and no problems with any other Applications.

Tried multiple versions of Netextender up to the most recent maintenance release and no difference. Tried to kill the svchost processes, stop and start the service etc at the time but nothing seems to help other than an uninstall, reboot and reinstall. This is very frustrating for the user as its a Director of the company who can't be constantly reinstalling the same piece of software.

Anyone got any other hints? Thanks

    Hi @STACK888,

Thank you for visiting SonicWall Community.

Did you get a chance to try using the SonicWall Mobile Connect obtained from the windows store? We knew sometimes Netextender throws compatibility errors with windows 10 platforms.

    Hi @stack888

    For resolving The Windows Remote Access Service (RAS) has encountered an error problem, Please follow the below step;

Navigate to Windows Device Manager --> Network Adaptores and uninstall the WAN Miniport (IP) and WAN Miniport (PPTP) devices, then scan for the hardware changes. Once it done the hardware changes try to use the NetExtender.

If its not solving the issue permanently with above steps, Try to install Sonicwall Mobile connect.

thanks Ajishal but we've tried this multiple times, still requires a reboot and a reinstall and the problem keeps coming back every few days.

Sonicwall mobile connect is really not an enterprise level solution and we've had very poor experiences with that in the organisation in general.

There must be a solution to this Netextender issue though that doesn't involve reinstalling each time. I've seen it come up in many threads over the years. Sonicwall should surely be able to determine what causes the Windows Remote Access Service error. I'm not sure why there isn't a patch out by now for this issue.

    thanks

HI Saravanan, we've tried out a number of users on mobile connect and they all hated it. Lots of disconnection issues and it crashes sometimes. Generally Netextender is a far superior product apart from this Windows RAS problem. thank you

    Hi @stack888

Did you ever find a permanent resolution for this issue? Almost all of our staff are having the same issue.

Hi Mimar, no, sadly we never found a solution for this. Its primarily affecting one user, and he has to totally uninstall and reinstall Netextender every time the problem surfaces. Its really not an answer. And using MobileConnect is not a good experience for the user and has its own issues. When Netextender is working well, its a good product, just frustrating when you encounter issues like this that can't seem to be solved by installing a newer version.

Don't mean to bump and old thread, but I had the same issue on a TZ300 (Being used temporally as the TZ370 was acting weird and had to factory reset and test).

If you check the router logs, in mine it was giving an "Unhandled Link-Local or Multicast IPv6 Packet Dropped". Same exact issues. I turned OFF IPv6 on the HOST OR the Local machine. That fixed my issue. Now why this is happening IDK. Need to look into into . I will update.

Reason I am posting here and bumping this was it was only 1 of 2 link on google that had the same exact issue. So hoping this help anyone else in the future who have this issue. May just be due to some IPv6 Firewall/NAT Rules that i have to test.
