Node limited NSv
Hi,
I have only previously used the NSv200 unlimited node series but am looking to deploy some of the node limited NSv 10/25/50/100.
Does someone have a good explanation of exactly what can be counted as a node and increases the current nodes counter?
I havent found a very clear SonicWALL explanation for this.
Is it *only each unique IP inside the firewall to WAN and destinations over IPsec tunnels + current SSLVPN and GVC clients?
Thanks

@RedNet - I was able to formulate an article explaining the Node concept. Please find the same on below web-link.
Hope this answers your question. Please revert back if any concerns.

Hi @REDNET,
A node is a computer or other device connected to your LAN with an IP address.
For example, a NSv 10 can support or pass traffic only for 10 LAN IP's. Otherwise, NSv 10 can allow traffics to pass via it from only 10 network devices assigned with IP's.
The below web-link can help you to understand Node concept in SonicWall products.
Hope this helps.

Hello @RedNet,
I hope this helps in clarifying it a bit.
Node counts are calculated by SonicOS as follows:
• Each unique IP address is counted.
• Only flow to the WAN side is counted.
• GVC (Global VPN Client) and SSL VPN connections terminated to the WAN side are counted.
• Internal zone to zone is not counted.
• Guest users are not counted.
A log event is generated when the node count exceeds the limit.
Thanks!

Thanks but that is too vague, I would appreciate more detail, such as what does the Firewall look at, is it ARP cache etc.
This link is a little better but there should be a KB on this topic alone, covering detailed info on this.

Hi @REDNET,
I agree with you. I'll have a KB created on this with complete details as suggested by you for better understanding the concept and indeed the product.
Thank you so much for your suggestion. Appreciate it!!!
