How do SonicPoints know to use the AP management VLAN?

SonicWall newbie, and inherited a SonicWall TZ400W with firmware 6.5.4.8-89n. (Using SonicPoints, not the built-in wireless.)

The Wi-Fi is set up to use 3 VLANs:

2: Private Wi-Fi

3: Private Wi-Fi

4: AP Management (The APs themselves are on this VLAN.)

I can see where VLAN 2 & 3 are assigned to the VAPs.

Where is the "Management" VLAN 4 assigned?

They don't. VLAN4 was created specifically for the APs, and the switchports they are plugged into are likely configured as 'trunk' ports with the native VLAN set to 4. Back when I was using Sonicpoints that's how I did it.

    Hope that helps.

    Thanks for your reply!

OK, what you're saying matches this, from the Interfaces page:

Wireless is using X2, X2:V2 and X2:V3. So the APs don't know need to know how to choose VLAN 4. The X2 port chooses it for them.

Then where did VLAN 4 get assigned to X2? It's not in the X2 Interface properties.

I did not configure it. Did you look at the switchport that is connected to X2?
