Actually, the term "firewall" itself is a typically misleading term used in technology, almost as offensive as "zero trust." (There is no such thing as zero trust, regardless of how often the term is abused.) The term "firewall" is lifted from construction, but I'm pretty sure that if you drill even one hole in a real firewall you're going be in violation of any number of codes and laws. The pseudo-firewalls we use in IT have all manner of holes poked into them; they are more like the U. S.- Canada border than a real firewall.
This also begs the question of why things can't just be what they are instead of pretending to be things that they are not. Why, for example, does a gasoline pump need a full-color touch screen? Why can't it just be a gasoline pump? I'd be satisfied if a network firewall could just be competent at protecting my network without the marketing hype.
