Need some advice/guidance on a migration from TZ400 to TZ470W

I am in the process of upgrading the firmware on a TZ470W from 7.0.1-5081 to 7.0.1-5161. I also used the migration tool to migrate a TZ400 configuration to a TZ470W configuration, however the highest firmware version T470W firmware available in the migration tool was 7.0.1-5145. My question is will I be ok loading the 7.0.1-5145 configuration file into the TZ470W after I upgrade to the 7.0.1-5161 firmware?

Thanks for any help you can offer.

    Hello @silvianjim

Yes - You can import the settings file processed by the migration tool where you selected the Target Firmware as 7.0.1-5145 into the TZ470W firewall which is currently operating with the 7.0.1-5161 firmware.

Also, If you are operating with a GEN7 Firewall which is operating with a 7.1.1-7058 OR 7.1.2-7019 , you can still import the same settings file ( where you selected the Target firmware as 7.0.1-5145 )

  • Thank you so much Vivek. I was able to upgrade firmware and migrate configuration successfully. Now, of course, I have another question. :) The device is currently offline, and even though I entered the registration code, the license for the various services included are not activated. I am not really concerned about that, as it will be online in a day or so, but I would like to know if I can continue to configure additional things (VLANS and SIP) while offline. Any guidance you can offer will be most appreciated. Thank you.

Hi @silvianjim - Yes, You can continue to additional settings on the firewall which are not license(s) dependent. Items such as vlans and SIP are not a problem.

    Also,

You can also apply the licenses manually onto the firewall if you wish by following the step by step instructions from this article here:

    A tiny info for you.

I just heard that if you have sd-wan policies created on you gen6 and you import to gen7 there may be issues with this policies if you edit them afterwards on the gen7
