Tech Info - Packet Flow on an Interface in SonicWall Firewall

It is quite important to understand the packet flow through the SonicWall firewall. This packet flow gives an idea to determine the firewall features that are activated whenever the firewall encounters traffic on any of its interfaces. Once the firewall packet flow process is understood by the user, the firewall troubleshooting style of the user is improvised.

The below screenshot describes the packet flow through SonicWall Security Appliance and shows the procedure to process internal packets. It also discusses the different possibilities where the packet could be dropped and different situations where the packet progresses ahead.

In-fact there is a public faced KB available representing the SonicWall packet flow process.

Hope this information is useful.
