Source IP in auto-generated packets in destination VPN Tunnel

Define the source IP of the packets generated by the firewall itself, destined for the VPN.

I have a route-based VPN tunnel, in this case, the VPN interface does not have an IP defined. So, what defines the source IP of the packet generated by the firewall itself, destined for a host in the VPN?

I know that when it comes to networking, a host uses its IP defined on the outgoing interface as a source IP, when the packet is self-generated.

There is an internal implementation logic that defines the selection of the interface as the source, when a packet is generated by the firewall. I think it uses the interface with the lowest index number, that is enabled and active.
