A firmware update can take around 5 to 10 minutes, depending on the model and if the firmware update is done on an HA pair.
On Gen7 firewalls, it can sometimes look it's still rebooting even if the reboot has finished because of the browser still counting down.
I would suggest running a continuous ping to the firewall IP for getting an immediate feedback as soon the reboot cycle has completed, then refresh the browser window even if it's still counting down.
@Larry Depending on the browser-version and browser-addons the 20sec loop may go forever. Best practice is still to ping the firewall IP and wait for an reply.

@Michael_Bischof I appreciate the response.
This is a TZ270W going from 5030 to 5050; there's no HA anything here.
It gave me a 3 minute warning and then kept looping on the 20 second warning with the orange light on the entire time.
Yesterday I learned that 3 minutes is the standard display for a reboot.
But shouldn't the device "know" that a longer wait time is required and should be displayed during a firmware update?
