Can We Have Multiple DHCP WAN On Sonicwall 2650?

Hello,

Our service provider assigns DHCP reservations according to the MAC addresses of our incoming WAN ports.

We have five assigned IP addresses.

In 'interfaces' settings we can set up a WAN port to retrieve DHCP settings.

Problems arise if we want to assign each of our five as DHCP WAN . Once any single port has a DHCP lease, from the vendor network, none of the other ports will acquire a lease. If the successful lease is 'released', then, any of the other ports will acquire a lease. But only one will lease at any time.

Does the 2650 only allow one inbound DHCP WAN lease?

What are we missing?

Thanks for any help.

  • Hello @FatiguedTech,

If the assigned IP addresses belong to the same subnet, then only one of the interfaces will get an IP from that subnet. On the firewall, no two interfaces can be in the same subnet.

Multiple WAN interfaces can be on DHCP as long as the IP addresses are from a different subnet.

    Thanks!
