Deleted or released emails come back
With every release of a new OS, it seems the Email appliance gets slower with opening emails to review, or deleting and unjunking them. We recently moved from the ESA 3300 to the ESA 5000 and it is just as bad as before, but now, after deleting or unjunking emails, they come right back most of the time and I need to delete or unjunk them again... sometimes as many as three times. It is really getting ridiculous just how slow and cumbersome it is to manage spam emails! Why does it take up to a minute or more just to open an email? Why don't emails delete or unjunk on the first try? Why is the OS getting slower and causing me more and more time just to manage my spam?

Hi @lcummins ,
I would suggest opening a support ticket. A tech needs to look at it and clear out old data that is causing it to occur.

Hi,
It seems that when importing the data from your ESA 3300 to your ESA 5000 there must have been some corruption.
Try to see if you can get putty and run the command Rebuildsearchdb here is an article that can help you

Thanks JDELGA, I followed the article and rebuilt the db. It brought back over 600 emails from the last month, but I was able to delete them without them coming back a second or third time. I'll report back on newly received emails after a day or so to see if the behavior is corrected. It still seems slow to open and review an email however.
Well, that did not fix the issue. Some emails still come back after deleting or unjunking. I can unjunk a group of 10 emails, then delete a group and when the gui refreshes, the 10 emails I unjunked are back. So, no change from previous behavior and it is still slow to open, delete or unjunk emails.
Thanks Chris, I guess I'll need to do that.
