GVC vs SSL VPN whats the difference - what would you choose?

Hey there,


i was wondering if there is a compare sheet of GVC vs SSL VPN?


Currently we are using GVC. If we will switch to SSL VPN are we still able to access the VPN Clients in Homeoffice and Update them with our on premise patchmanagement?


Will the Users still have the option to ssh or rdp to there on premise Desktop PCs or servers are they are used to do via GVC?

    Hi @Chojin

    As IPSEC works with ports 500 and 4500, if you work remotely there is a good chance that these ports are not open in public wifi areas and with some ISP's.

    This is where SonicWALL SSL VPN works great, As you can use port 443 with SSL VPN, you are guaranteed to have no port issues no matter where you are at, as 443 is always available.

    I second @Ajishlal . SSLVPN is the go-to with a valid SSL certificate and using a well known port such as 443.

    GVPN overall is slightly more cumbersome to maintain. While you can secure it using SSL certs as well, without a good way to pass new certs to clients you are left to a manual task of updating the client machines.
