Console output grabled

TZ200

FW:

Product Model:  TZ 200

Product Code:   6731

Firmware Version: SonicOS Enhanced 5.9.1.13-5o


I did factory default

Since I don't have Sonicwall console cable. I make myself following DB9-RJ45 converter

RJ45 Side DB9 Side

1 blue 9

2 orange 1

3 black 4

4 red 5

5 green 2

6 yellow 3

7 brown 8

8 white 7

Serial settings 115200, 8, 1, none, none

Connection from my pc like this

PC>Aten USB Serial>DB9>RJ45>Straight Ethernet>Console port

Putty or teraterm shown console output on boot normally

The problem happen when I type Username or Password

Output GARBLED

Anything I missed here

    Based on your information, it seems like you get scrambled text when you type in the credential to login to the TZ 200 via console session. If this is right, could you ensure the firewall runs on its latest firmware version? Also, you can try to launch a normal SSH session to the LAN interface of the firewall and check for the same behavior.

    Thanks for the answers.

    There is a good possibility that the issue is seen because of using a non-SonicWall console cable. It would be better to submit a support case with our support team to get real-time assistance on this. Our support team would be able to ship a console cable if needed to address the issue.
