Where's the new 7.1.3 firmware for the CVE emailed LAST NIGHT?

Really? I have to come here to ask the question? Someone at SonicWALL needs to grow a spine and post updates on this issue. You're leaving your partners hanging, and in turn our clients open to possible hacking attempts.

Perhaps it's not that serious, but last night's email specifically states (and underlines) "should be mitigated immediately by updating to the latest firmware which will be web-posted tomorrow, Jan 7th, 2025."

Security is hard. Communicating with your partners shouldn't be.

@dslee it's available for at least 2 days now on MySonicWall … you can download it in the Download Center → By Product Line or on the Details page of your Product on the tab Firmware. Even on the "By Version" listing its downloadable now, there was a problem on Jan 8 for that.

If it is not shown directly you might login in Inkognito Mode or hit the refresh button, caching is sometimes an issue on MSW.

Yes, as a common courtesy, the SonicWall email should include one additional statement:

"After we release the new firmware, you can obtain it by going to https://www.MySonicWall.com. Log in, then access your tenant(s), select the affected device(s), and download the file(s)."

After the release of new firmware for firewalls, will there also be a new firmware for SonicPoint's/SonicWave's?

I don't have access to a 7.1.3 system with WIFI enabled to check, but 8.0 comes with updated firmwares in comparison to the latest 7.0.1 release (IMHO there should be no difference).

    7.0.1
    SonicWave-432o/432i/432esw_spw_eng_9.1.3.0_56.bin.sig
    SonicWave-231c/224w/231osw_spw_eng_9.2.3.0_56.bin.sig

    8.0 (same on 7.1.2)
    SonicWave-432o/432i/432esw_spw_eng_9.1.4.7_7.bin.sig
    SonicWave-231c/224w/231osw_spw_eng_9.2.4.7_7.bin.sig
    SonicWave-621/641/681sw_spw_eng_9.6.4.7_7.bin.sig

There are no more details I can provide with Sonic APs because I don't deploy them. But you can check with the Firmware Management on the appliance after updating by comparing the values with the above.

Yeah, I submitted my post on January 7th, and the moderators didn't approve it until the 10th. 7.1.3 became available late on the 7th. Poor communication by SonicWALL.

  • @dslee, this was an oversight on our part as your original post was marked as spam. Please accept our apology!

When I press "check for new updates" it returns the information "Your firmware is up to date".
    I currently have SonicOS 7.1.2-7019-R3813-HF50790
Why can't it find the new one?
