adding VLAN to TZ-270W breaks Internet

Please help me solve a problem:

I am attempting to add a Guest Wireless SSID/network to an existing installation by following this:

Configuring Built-in Wireless with Corporate SSID bridged to LAN (Access to Internet & LAN resource | SonicWall

The existing installation already has X0 "Primary Bridged (WLAN)" and W0 "Secondary Bridged (WLAN)" (the first step in the linked procedure), so I proceed to "Make a Guest Zone" and then onto "Make a Guest VLAN".

As soon as the VLAN is defined: the Sonicwall stops passing traffic to the WAN (Internet). Removing the VLAN (followed by restarting the Sonicwall) has been required to restore normal Internet functionality.

I looked through the System Logs but did not observe anything particular to report.

TIA -

  • I was able to spend more time with this today.

Adding the VLAN to W0 did in fact cause the upstream COMCAST router/gateway (WAN) to stop passing traffic…suspect its that thing Comcast does to prevent you from pulling multiple IPs. DHCP on WAN would not renew.

After restarting the Comcast device, the Sonicwall was (eventually) re-served a WAN DHCP address, and the Comcast device passed traffic normally.

I was then able to proceed with the Guest Wireless setup.
