Gateway antivírus - Wan speed
SupportFast

Hey
Please I have a question:
I have a 300Mbps link and when I activate the sonicwall's Gateway Antivirus (TZ500) the speed drops to 70/80Mbps. But when I disable the speed hits 300Mbps.
Could you help me to improve this?

@SupportFast this is a topic covered many times. On Gen6 appliances you can roughly expect a throughput (/w enabled security services) calculated by that formula (rule of thumb):
Max Throughput / Number of CPU Cores
300 Mbps / 4 (TZ 500 has 4 Cores) = 75 Mbps (which matches your test).
A single flow is limited to a single CPU core, but multiple flow can max out the Appliance.

I understood, thank you!
We have a TZ570 and a 400mb sym. WAN connection - we basically get the full 400mb, 350-390 in speedtest with GAV, IPS "on"
@blublub TZ570 is way ahead of the TZ500 which was object of the initial question. Gen7 appliances are in general much more performant, the TZ 270 for example is a little beast.
