NSA 2650 QoS priority connected to VPN user

Hello Community

Tried to find in documentation but with no result - is there any option to assign QoS priority with VPN user?

Thank you in advance for any suggestion in this topic.

Best regards, Michal

  • Hi @MICHAL,

    Thank you for visiting SonicWall Community.

    In my opinion, we can apply the QOS priority using access rules from VPN or SSLVPN to LAN or Any Internal Zones. When you say VPN user, could you please confirm if you mean SSLVPN user or IPSec GVC user?

    With either of these VPN's, the QOS can still be applied using the access rules. But, please be aware that making the QOS change on the common rule between the VPN or SSLVPN to Internal Zones would impact other VPN tunnels such as Site to Site or Tunnel Interface if any present. The alternate option is to create new access rules between the required zones and apply the QOS.

    Unfortunately, I don't see an article available for your said setup. I'll probably try adding one.

    Hope this information helps.

    Hi Saravanan,

    Thank you for your prompt response. Below is a manual, how we add VPN users here:

    1/ Firewall -> Address Objects

    First of all we add new Address Object

    Name:

    10.100.xxx.xxx_name_surname

    Zone assignment: LAN

    Type: Host

    IP Address: 10.100.xxx.xxx

    2/ Users -> Local Users & Groups:

    Here we add new user

    ====Settings

    Name: name.surname

    Password: password given

    Account lifetime: Never expires

    ====Groups

    Przyporządkowanie do grup

    ====VPN Access

    We connect here with Address Object

    That's all

    Best regards, Michal

  • Hi @MICHAL,

    Please create an access rule from the VPN or SSLVPN zone to LAN or any internal zones with

    • Source: Any
    • Destination: Any
    • Service: Any
    • User Allowed: Select the User Group that is meant for VPN users.
    • Apply the QOS with desired option under QOS tab.

    Hope this helps.
