Creating Managed Configuration for Mobile Connect Android app on Chromebooks

The Android app appears to be more up-to-date and functional on Chromebooks than the Chrome app. I am looking to push it out to employees on our domain, however I cannot figure out how to get the managed configurations feature to work. Can anyone confirm that this feature even works for the Android app? If so, is the JSON schema different?
