Naming Convention For SSLVPN Certificate

Hi all,

I have to register a certificate for one of our customers for their SSLVPN client connections. Currently we are getting the usual Self Signed Certificate error when our security company carries out a vulnerability scan of the site.

I don't want to call it sslvpn.companyname.com as this will identify the service on that port. I know that the point is pretty moot anyway, as any good port scanner will easily identify the service either way. But what is the usual name that people use for the SSLVPN certificate.

thanks,

Jonathan.

@JonathanStone I prefer not to disclose under which hostnames my customers provide this service. But IMHO there is no good or bad choice. Just select a hostname which fits your needs and your users are able to relate with. If you like to manage your Firewall with the same Certificate you could use the location (or some form of) or something generic like gateway.domain.tld etc.
