Reserve IP's in a dhcp scope on a TZ-300

Greetings, I have a dhcp scope set up on the LAN interface (internal)

We just installed a Server 2016 with two Hyper-V machines on it. Hyper-v has no ability to assign static IP's (That I can find) They get a DHCP address from our TZ-300.

Can I "Reserve" two IP's within the DHCP scope for these machines?

Thanks,

Dave Wade

    Hi @bdfdcapt32

You can create static ARP for those servers for reserving the DHCP released IPs.

For configuring the STATIC ARP, Navigate to the Firewall, Network-->ARP -->Add-->enter the DHCP leased IP & corresponding the MAC.

  • Hi @BDFDCAPT32,

Thank you for visiting SonicWall Community.

You can create static DHCP entries for the MAC addresses of the Hyper V hosts on the SonicWall so that the host Hyper V's will always acquire the same IP address from SonicWall.

Please refer below KB article for the same.

    Hope this helps.

@bdfdcapt32 IMHO your static assignment cannot be from within a Dynamic Pool. This is at least what I understand you're trying to accomplish.

This ends up in something like this: Error: [10.1.28.129 - 10.1.28.129] overlaps with entry [10.1.28.128 - 10.1.28.159]

I usually leave some free space for static assignments in the subnet.
